What Egypt Defence Expo is

Egypt Defence Expo is "a biennial event that showcases the latest technologies and solutions in the defence and security industries", says its website. The homepage bills EDEX as "Egypt's leading tri-service defence exhibition". It also calls EDEX "the award-winning show" and "the only defence and security event that covers Africa and the Middle East".

The Egyptian Armament Authority of the Ministry of Defence organises EDEX. The organiser says EDEX "is fully supported by Egyptian Armed Forces". It describes the audience as "military personnel, government officials, industry professionals, and international delegations". Exhibitors can "Meet all three services (land, air and sea) in one place", according to the Why Exhibit page.

Egypt International Exhibition Centre, the EDEX venue

Drivers have direct access to EIEC from the city's main highway, El Moshir Tantawy Axis, says the venue page. Cairo International Airport is 18 km from EIEC, according to the same page.

The parking rules on the official venue page, written for EDEX 2025, limit vehicle entry to the EIEC complex:

EDEX 2025 floor plan and hall features

The EDEX 2025 Show Guide, linked from the official website, prints the 2025 floor plan. It spreads the exhibition across four halls, numbered 1 to 4. Each hall has an A entrance and a B entrance, and stand codes begin with the hall number, such as H1 or H3. The EDEX 2027 layout may differ.

The organiser's welcome in the Show Guide says EDEX 2025 featured "several national pavilions, including a prominent Egyptian Pavilion". Visitors there could explore the "latest developments and future capabilities" of Egyptian military manufacturing entities, the welcome adds. The guide indexes the 2025 exhibitors by company, by country, by pavilion and by product.

The EDEX official delegation programme

EDEX runs a VIP Delegation Programme that the organiser calls "a fully hosted initiative". It aims to have "key VIPs and VVIPs" at the show, "fully engaged with a tailored calendar and route for each day". The EDEX 2025 homepage figures list 100+ invited official delegations. At EDEX 2023, the programme "welcomed 108 VIP Delegations from 60 countries", says the organiser.

A "dedicated VIP Engagement Team" works with exhibitors to design a programme for each delegation. The organiser says this means "ensuring suppliers of the right products and services are matched with potential customers".

WhoWhat the official delegation programme page offers
ExhibitorsRequests for meetings with specific delegations; an official matchmaking platform to request meetings, manage invitations and receive personalised schedules; "Direct access to the VIP programming team during show days"
Delegations"A time-efficient and tailored visit programme"; bilateral meetings with international counterparts; "A dedicated Liaison Officer and VIP host"

Exhibitors select the delegations they wish to meet, and tailored schedules follow. The organiser lists delegates such as:

  • Defence and Security Ministers
  • Chiefs of Staff and Chiefs of Army, Navy, and Air Forces
  • Coastguard Commanders
  • Procurement Directorates
  • Capability Development Directors
  • Heads of MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul)
  • Critical National Infrastructure Authorities

Technologies and sectors at EDEX

The official Why Exhibit page lists 44 technology and service categories under "Who should exhibit?". They include:

  • Air Defence Systems
  • Airframe Manufacturers
  • Land Vehicles
  • Missile Systems
  • Shipbuilders
  • Sonar and Radar Systems
  • Satellite Communications
  • Unmanned and Autonomous Systems
  • Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul
  • Information Security
  • Software for Military Applications
  • Energy Storage Systems
  • Search, Rescue and Safety Equipment
  • Private Security Companies

The homepage says EDEX visitors can see "the latest technology, equipment and systems across land, sea, and air". Exhibitors are invited to "Showcase the latest technological innovations to both procurement and operational directorates", says the Why Exhibit page. The Why Visit page for EDEX 2025 invited visitors to "Watch live demos from exhibitors".

Who can attend Egypt Defence Expo

EDEX is closed to the general public. The admission policy opens the show to "Official Delegations, Exhibitors' Guests, VIPs, Ministry of Defence visitors (Egypt and overseas), Media and Trade visitors". Visitors must be engaged in "legitimate areas of the defence industry". The organiser lists these as the armed forces, government, equipment procurement organisations, defence contractors, operators and end users, and educational and research establishments.

Everyone must pre-register via the EDEX website, "including those who have been invited by an exhibitor", says the admission policy. Media must apply online through the accreditation process. No one under 18 is admitted, including children of exhibitors.

EDEX badge, identification and dress rules

The EDEX admission policy says only "the EDEX Organiser's official Exhibition badge, worn by the person named on it" gives access. This applies to stand personnel, visitors, guests, stand contractors and service providers. The badge remains the organiser's property, and nobody may let another person wear it.

Everyone should carry photo identification, such as a passport, a photo driving licence or a national identity card. The dress code is "Business attire or service dress" for all attendees. Photography or filming of stands and exhibits needs "the expressed permission of the stand manager". Canvassing is not permitted.

The policy bans items including knives, weapons, explosives, laser devices, aerosols, bottles, glass vessels and cans. Promotional, marketing or commercial material also needs the organisers' "express written permission".

EDEX 2027 stands by Orchestra Media

Orchestra Media's Egypt office handles regional operations for North Africa and the EDEX exhibition circuit. Our team works from seven offices on five continents.

We start with one question: what must this show make possible for your business? Your objectives then guide the decisions.

Defence is one of our specialist sectors, where stands have to work for official delegations and complex displays.

Our stand design and build work includes national pavilions. At the World Defense Show in Riyadh, our team delivered the 351 sqm Azersilah national defence pavilion. The project ran from initial concept and 3D design renders to full construction and on-site installation. It combined open product display areas, a boardroom for government-level meetings, LED video walls and a neon Azerbaijan map feature wall.

Our services cover stand design and build, multimedia, logistics and hospitality.

We know the show. We build your advantage.
