How Much Does an Exhibition Stand Cost in Dubai? (2027 Guide)
Exhibition stand costs in Dubai, in real AED: space rates, build tiers, DWTC venue fees, the hidden costs nobody budgets for, and what a 20, 50 or 100 sqm stand actually costs all-in.
A custom exhibition stand in Dubai costs roughly AED 950 to 2,500 per square metre to build, and the floor space underneath it costs a separate AED 1,600 per square metre and up, paid to the show organiser. For a 50 square metre custom stand at a major Dubai show, a realistic all-in figure is AED 150,000 to 300,000, once venue fees, electrics, furniture and logistics are counted.
That range is wide because the question hides three separate purchases: space, build, and the venue services almost nobody budgets for until the invoice arrives. This guide breaks all three apart, with real AED figures, so you can build a budget that survives contact with reality.
The short version
- Floor space: from AED 1,600 per sqm, plus around 10% more for corner or island plots
- Shell scheme build: AED 850 to 1,200 per sqm
- Custom build: AED 950 to 2,500 per sqm depending on finish
- Double-deck build: AED 2,500 per sqm and up
- Venue technical fees: AED 5,000 to 15,000 for a mid-size stand
- VAT: 5% on exhibition services in the UAE
- Rule of thumb: the stand build is roughly a third to a half of your total show cost
What are you actually paying for?
Most budget overruns in Dubai come from one mistake: treating "the stand" as a single line item. It is at least four.
Floor space is rented from the show organiser, not the stand builder. This is your plot, and nothing else. At major Dubai shows, raw space starts from around AED 1,600 per square metre, and organisers typically add a premium starting at 10% for corner or island plots that open on three or four sides. Registration, insurance and mandatory marketing packages usually add from AED 1,200 per exhibiting company.
The stand build is what you put on that plot: design, structure, joinery, graphics, flooring, lighting and furniture. This is where the per-square-metre rates below apply, and where quality differences are visible from across the hall.
Venue technical services are billed by the venue and are non-negotiable. Power, rigging, cleaning, and a refundable performance bond for custom builds.
Everything else covers freight, storage, stand staff, hospitality, travel and accommodation for your team, and sponsorship if you buy it.
Miss one of those four and your budget is wrong by a wide margin, usually in the direction that hurts.
How much does the floor space cost?
Floor space at major Dubai shows starts from around AED 1,600 per square metre, though the real number depends on the show’s prestige and your plot’s orientation. A premium technology or aerospace show commands more than a regional trade fair. Corner and island plots carry a surcharge that starts around 10% of the base rate, which is usually money well spent because open frontage on multiple sides materially changes how many people walk in.
Two things to know before you sign.
Most major organisers do not publish a rate card. Space at shows like MRO Middle East and IDEX is quoted on enquiry, which means the price you get depends partly on when you ask and what is left. Early bookers get better plots at better rates.
And position is not a detail you can fix later. The strong plots near entrances, main aisles and feature areas are gone months ahead at any well-attended show. Our space booking service exists for exactly this reason: getting the right plot is a separate discipline from building on it.
How much does the stand build cost per square metre?
Here is the Dubai market as it stands for the 2026 to 2027 season. Dubai is a timber-first market, which matters: the crisp architectural finish expected at shows like GITEX Global or Gulfood is achieved with bespoke wood and MDF joinery rather than the modular systems common in Europe. That pushes quality up and cost with it.
- Shell scheme (AED 850 to 1,200 per sqm): organiser-supplied walls, fascia, carpet and basic lighting. You add graphics and furniture.
- Essential custom (from AED 950 per sqm): painted MDF, vinyl branding, standard lighting. A genuine custom shape on a controlled budget.
- Premium joinery (from AED 1,400 per sqm): Duco paint finish, 3D backlit logos, raised platforms, better materials throughout.
- Elite bespoke (from AED 2,500 per sqm): multi-level or double-deck, integrated LED, VIP lounges, structural engineering.
Design is sometimes inside these rates and sometimes not. Most full-service contractors include concept development, 3D renders and graphic design in the per-square-metre rate. Standalone design studios charge AED 3,000 to 15,000 separately. When comparing quotes, this single difference can make a cheaper-looking rate more expensive.
What does a stand cost in total, by size?
This is the list most exhibitors actually want. Figures below are all-in planning bands covering space, build, furniture, electrics, basic freight and venue fees, at a major Dubai show. They exclude travel, accommodation, staffing and sponsorship.
- 9 to 12 sqm, shell scheme with graphics: AED 25,000 to 50,000 (USD 7,000 to 14,000), 3 to 4 weeks lead time.
- 18 to 20 sqm, compact custom: AED 60,000 to 120,000 (USD 16,000 to 33,000), 8 to 10 weeks.
- 30 to 50 sqm, mid-size custom on space only: AED 150,000 to 300,000 (USD 41,000 to 82,000), 10 to 14 weeks.
- 50 to 100 sqm, large custom or double-deck: AED 300,000 to 700,000 (USD 82,000 to 190,000), 14 to 18 weeks.
- 100 sqm and above, flagship or national pavilion: AED 700,000 to 2,000,000+ (USD 190,000 to 545,000+), 16 to 24 weeks.
USD converted at the pegged rate of roughly AED 3.67 to USD 1.
Read the lead time as carefully as the money. The two are linked, and lateness is expensive: a compressed timeline removes your options long before it removes your budget. A 50 square metre custom stand decided four months out is a design conversation. The same stand decided six weeks out is a modular compromise with a rush premium.
What are the hidden costs nobody budgets for?
This is the section that saves money. These are billed separately from your build, and they surprise first-time Dubai exhibitors almost without exception.
Performance bond. Custom builds typically require a refundable bond from AED 2,500, held by the venue against damage and late dismantle. Refundable, but it is cash out of the door before the show.
Electrical mains. Power for a standard 36 square metre stand starts from around AED 1,800. Larger stands with AV, screens and demo equipment need an upgraded supply that costs more.
Rigging. Hanging banners and overhead structures are charged per hanging point, starting from around AED 2,200 per point, before labour and hardware. Rigging is done exclusively by the venue’s appointed contractor, so this is not a cost you can shop around.
VAT. All exhibition services in the UAE carry 5% VAT under the Federal Tax Authority. On a AED 250,000 project, that is AED 12,500 that has to be in the budget.
Daily operations. Professional stand cleaning starts from around AED 300 per day. On-stand catering and coffee service starts from around AED 90 per head.
Storage between shows. If you own a modular or custom stand and exhibit more than once a year, storage is charged monthly and quietly adds up across a year.
Dismantle and disposal. Check whether your quote includes removal. Some do not, and venues charge for waste left behind.
For a mid-size custom stand, budget AED 5,000 to 15,000 for venue technical fees alone, before VAT. It is the single most commonly missed block in a Dubai exhibition budget.
What makes a stand cost more, or less?
Six factors move the number more than anything else.
Size and structure. Obvious, but not linear. Double-deck construction adds structural engineering, venue approvals and additional fees, so a two-storey 50 square metre stand costs considerably more than a single-storey one of the same footprint. What you buy is usable space on an expensive plot, which is often worth it at a premium show.
Venue. Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City, and ADNEC in Abu Dhabi each have their own rules, fee schedules and approval processes. They are not interchangeable. Fire certification accepted at DWTC is not automatically valid at ADNEC, which means a stand built for a Dubai show can need fresh documentation for Abu Dhabi. Budget the time and the paperwork.
Show and season. Peak show season in Dubai runs January to February and October to November. Contractor labour, hotels and logistics all carry peak premiums. GITEX Global 2026 is a live example: the show has moved to Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City for 7 to 11 December 2026, and stand costs there are expected to run 10 to 20% above equivalent DWTC builds, with a competitive standard around AED 2,500 per square metre.
Finish level. The gap between painted MDF and Duco-finish joinery with backlit 3D logos is the gap between AED 950 and AED 1,400 per square metre. At a show where your competitors are spending, finish is not vanity, it is whether serious buyers take you seriously.
Reuse. A stand engineered for reuse costs more once and less across three shows. If you exhibit several times a year, judge cost per show rather than cost per build.
How many companies are involved. Every handoff between designer, builder, freight agent and on-site crew adds margin and risk. A single contract covering design, build, logistics and on-site management is usually cheaper than the sum of its parts, and much cheaper when something goes wrong.
How early should you book to avoid paying more?
For a major Dubai show, brief your stand builder four to six months ahead. Custom stands need a minimum of eight to ten weeks from brief to installation, and shell scheme graphics can be produced in three to four weeks, but those are production times, not planning times. The extra months are for design iteration, venue approvals, freight and the plot itself.
Booking late costs money in three ways at once. The good plots are gone, so you pay similar rates for worse position. Rush fabrication carries a premium. And the design gets simplified to fit the calendar, which means you spend real money on a stand that does less than it should.
A practical rule: if the show is inside eight weeks, you are choosing between modular and nothing. If it is four months out, you have the full range of options. That is why our show guides, including the MRO Europe 2026 guide , lead with the calendar rather than the design.
Is a cheaper stand builder actually cheaper?
Sometimes. Often not, and the difference shows up in predictable places.
Ask any quote these five questions. Is design included or charged separately? Are the DWTC or ADNEC permit and approval fees inside the price or outside it? Is dismantle and removal included? Is assembly labour included or billed on top? What material specification is proposed, fabric, rigid or premium joinery?
Two quotes that look 30% apart frequently converge once those answers arrive. The genuinely expensive outcome is not a higher rate per square metre. It is a stand that fails venue approval, arrives late, or needs on-site rework during build-up, when every hour costs and there is no time to recover.
For companies where the stand carries real commercial weight, the calculation is different again. At a show where a single supplier approval or framework agreement is worth more than the entire exhibition budget, optimising the build cost downward is the wrong optimisation.
What does this look like in practice?
Orchestra Media has delivered more than 1,200 international exhibition projects across over 100 countries in 20 years, specialising in defence, aerospace and technology, for clients including Boeing, Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney, SAAB, Jetex and Saudi Aramco. We build to the same standard from a 20 square metre booth at Farnborough to a 1,500 square metre pavilion at Dubai Airshow.
Two projects show the range. Jetex commissioned a 540 square metre immersive lounge for the private aviation market at EBACE Geneva. Azersilah Defence took a 351 square metre national defence pavilion to the World Defence Show in Riyadh. Both are in our success stories .
Our model consolidates booth design, construction, logistics and show management under one contract, which removes the vendor-fragmentation cost described above. Booth design and construction covers strategy through on-site handover, space booking secures the plot, and extra services cover booth personnel, on-site operations, content and immersive installations. For companies exhibiting at several shows a year, the Global Alliance programme holds brand consistency across Dubai, Amsterdam and Washington under a single contract, which is also where the cost-per-show maths turns in your favour.
